We’re finally shoveling our way out of the dreaded winter season, which means wedding season is upon us. Yes! It’s time to dust off your trusty wedding planner, re-open that Pinterest wedding board, and get to work on planning the most spectacular spring wedding of the season. But before you hit the drawing board, let’s take a look at these new bridal trends.
Boho Chic for the Boho Chick
Think Coachella meets New York Fashion Week – just with less cheesy floral headbands (it’s a love-hate thing). Seriously though, island vibes are taking over the runway this season in every form imaginable. Famous designers like Oscar de la Renta and Elizabeth Fillmore are creating Boho couture, with bell-sleeved chiffon and pleated tulle.
Cascading Bohemian dresses are falling effortlessly on brides everywhere, and makes us wish we were having a destination wedding every week so we could have an excuse to wear these gorgeous things. Want to channel your inner Californian chick? Try this bangle bracelet by Gottlieb & Sons!
Veils – Go Big or Go Home
We went from no veils at all to veils...on veils…on veils. This season we’re looking at BIG, voluminous, hit-people-when-you-walk-by veils. These things are literally massive and they are taking over the runway and the wedding aisle this season as brides swoon over lace embroidered veils to ornate, extremely tulle veils. Pick that special one and you’ll have a lot of trouble parting with it after the wedding-- sorry, nothing can be borrowed here!
Floral and Fab
Blossoming brides are all about the floral accents this season, whether its flower patterned lace or having the dress gather into a beautiful rose. Pastel colors are even taking over the scene, with floral beadwork and sexy embellishments that’ll make your wedding feel more like a garden party.
Don’t be afraid to experiment with bloomy accents either. We’re seeing brides go for floral engagement rings like this one from Gottlieb & Sons.
No need for Cold Shoulders
Last year was all about the strapless dresses, and to be honest we are a little sick of seeing sweetheart necklines everywhere. Spring is a time for growth and change, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing on bridal gowns this year. Bold shoulders are on trend for 2017, with artistically sculpted sleeve caps and broad shoulder details that kind of resemble shoulder pads.
There’s something powerful about them, and we love how they frame a bride’s face and neck. This dainty diamond pendant by Gottlieb & Sons will add some softness to a heavier neckline.
The Bigger the Bow the Better
Big sleeves aren’t the only thing on trend for this Spring-- oversized bows also hit the runway with a bang! They’re adding a little more glam and a LOT more drama. Large bows are seen tied perfectly around a bride’s waist, or even on the back of her gown. There’s really no wrong way to rock a bow this wedding season, so go ahead and doll up.
With the bows, puff sleeves and florals-- just be careful not to get too carried away by your girlish tastes. You don’t want to feel like a decorated cream puff! The look should be a subtle nod to the Disney princess, while still maintaining an overall modern vibe.
