Engagement Rings Wedding Bands Combos

As every picky lady knows, your wedding band is the finishing touch to your engagement ring. One cannot exist without the other. While some gals prefer a glitzy accent band, others appreciate a simple version, allowing their sparkling rock to be the center of attention.

If you’re undecided about which band style to choose, here are some gorgeous combinations that will leave you starry-eyed.

Halo Ring Combo

1

Halo rings were made popular by elegant ladies like Kate Middleton (with her Sapphire blue halo ring) and Natalie Portman, who reigned as the Swan Queen in The Black Swan film by Darren Aronofsky. In case you're not familiar with this type of ring, it is a model recognized by its centre stone framed by a setting of smaller stones or engravings -- which not only tastefully emphasizes the main diamond, but also holds the gems securely.

This particular style by Gottlieb & Sons features a round diamond surrounded by a delicate engraved bead halo, placed within a prong setting. And with its fluid composition, it leads the eye from the sparkling centre, to its dazzling band with its milgrain border.

Rose Gold Combo

2

Rose gold is a combination of yellow gold and copper, which results in a metallic hue that is extremely romantic and tends to compliment various skin tones. This colour has most recently been embraced by technological brands like Apple for its accessories, and seen throughout the fashion world -- for instance on the 2016 Victoria Secret Paris Fashion Show with the rose gold bomber jacket, or on the fine details on popular Michael Kors watches. So it's not surprising that even the goddess-like actress Blake Lively, known for portraying the fashion-forward Serena on Gossip Girl, embraced rose gold for her engagement ring.

This halo ring is done up in a vintage style, and shaped like a flower with pointed petals. It has milgrain details framing the diamond band -- giving it a feel that's both young and sophisticated. It's ideal for a bride who appreciates nature (or even dreams of that Spring or Summer wedding ceremony) or someone yearning for something stylish yet not quite conventional.

Emerald Ring Combo

3

The most fashionable of the Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham a.k.a Posh Spice, knows what she wants -- and her collection of engagement rings consists of 13 jewel pieces, including some spectacular emerald cut diamonds. As a more unique variation to the round diamond counterpart, the cutting technique used to produce these types of diamonds, achieves extra shimmer and interplay of light, creating a ring that is extremely elegant, flattering and iconic -- as seen with models like this.

29748

This emerald diamond ring, with its halo intermixed with bead set diamonds, can be easily worn in everyday life -- either to add some personality to some office business attire, or worn with a lovely bracelet and ball gown for a charity event. It's no wonder divas like Mariah Carey gravitate towards this type of engagement ring (as seen by her 35-carat ring given to her by James Parker).

29406

To add a down-to-earth element along with effortlessness, you can wear the this radiant cut (square shaped to compliment the emerald) eternity ring, which encompasses minimalist luxury which is truly timeless.

Elaborate Ring Combo

4

Fergie, the popular singer (who also hosted hit television series X Factor), enchanted us with her beautiful engagement ring from Josh Duhamel, when she wore a 4-carat diamond framed by a starburst pattern. And although, wide-rimmed engagement rings are far from traditional, they embody both femininity and strength -- capturing the millennial feminist spirit of our age in a beautiful way.

Contrasting the typical dainty band, this type of model is more solid, and takes up more space -- proving that a female doesn't always have to be a blushing bride, and can instead  be both opinionated and charming.

27228

This ring is a perfect take on the wide-rimmed ring. For with its touch of modernity, and five rows of diamond bridges around the central diamond -- it can be worn with a cuff bracelet.

Use these ring duos as inspiration for your own combination. Make sure the design, color and shape is complementary to your engagement ring, letting the whole arrangement work together beautifully. Happy pairing, ladies!

6 Rules to Live by When Choosing an Engagement Ring

You’ve already chosen the guy, the hardest part, now you just need the bling to seal the deal. No biggy, right? Wrong! Like every picky bride-to-be, you’ll want to navigate your options with a clear agenda and list of priorities. Fortunately, with the help of Gottlieb & Sons, you can collect the ultimate tips for sifting your way through thousands of rings and come out with the winner. Here we go, ladies!

Personality is Everything

29662

A ring can be super beautiful and glamorous, but if it lacks personality, it can get boring really quick. Sigh! It’s important to choose a ring that’s meant for YOU, and not necessarily the ring that has the most pins on a bridal board. Basically, if the ring doesn’t capture your unique flare, you’re going to fall out of love with your sparkler fast! So, to avoid a casual fling with your ring, find the one that’s going to be a relationship for the long haul.

Shape Up or Ship Out

29519

The number 1 thing that gives a ring its overall “look” is the diamond’s shape. Are you a fan of the oval style? radiant or princess cut? Or maybe heart-shaped suits your fancy. Whatever shape you choose, make sure it bodes well with your hand shape. If you have long, slender fingers you can go more round, but if your hands are on the stubbier side, try to go for straighter lines that will elongate your hands like this one from Gottlieb & Sons.

Mull over the Metal

29792

Once you’ve selected your diamond shape, you’re going to want to choose your metal wisely. Think of what color metal you tend to wear the most. Your engagement ring doesn’t always have to match, but it’s best to try to choose a ring that goes well with a lot of your other pieces. White gold and rose gold are both very popular colors for 2017, but you also need to think of your long-term commitment. Wear gold and silver equally? Choose a mixed band like this knockout.

Don’t Break Your Budget

Weddings are an expensive time for all of those involved, so remember that the engagement ring is just the start. Set a reasonable budget and choose a ring within it. You can also work with your Gottlieb & Sons retailer to make sure your dream ring doesn’t break the bank (and your honeymoon savings).

Pick the Right Setting

29427

A beautiful diamond can go from a 10 to a 3 if it’s encased in uncreative “meh” filigree. It’s like having a great figure and then wearing a paper bag—it does nothing for your shape! So, don’t make the mistake of underdressing your diamond and give it the outfit it deserves!

Don’t Rush It

Last but certainly not least…TAKE YOUR TIME! This isn’t like you’re going to the store because you ran out of calorie-free sweetener— you’re going to be wearing this piece for a long time, and so the worst thing you can do is rush this process. Spend lots of effort collecting images and consulting your friends, so you feel confident about your final selection.

Try to think of this process as less of a chore and more of a shopping trip. Have some fun with it and remember at the finish line there’s a dazzling ring waiting for you (oh and a dashing man to put it on your finger!).

6 Ring Designs to Make Her Say “Yes”

It’s a magical time of year. Snow flurries and twinkle lights make everything feel like a fairytale. So, maybe you’re thinking about your own happily ever after.  If the mistletoe and cozy nights by the fire are tempting you to pop that question this holiday season, then you’re going to need the perfect ring to make her say “yes.

The Classic

28253

You can’t go wrong with something classic. If she’s the picture of simplicity and elegance, then a ring that’s exactly that will be perfect for her.

No matter what her style or personality, she’ll love opening that little box to a classic ring. A design like this three stone semi-mount is simple and beautiful, as it features two round diamonds to compliment a diamond of your choice.

What girl could say no to triple the diamonds?

The Spin-Off Classic

27817

If your woman loves the classic look, but always likes a little extra something, then why not try a spin-off of a classic ring design?

A ring like this gives off the appearance of a round stone, but it’s actually a diamond cluster swirl ring. The spun metal is different from the typical band, but not too different. This design is beautiful and unique, but will never go out of style.

Something like this is perfect for the girl who’s classic with a twist.

The Feature

26887B

This Gottlieb & Sons’ featured ring may be just what the leading lady in your life needs.

It is romance personified with its two rows of bead set round diamonds gently cradling one channel set round diamond. Could it be any more perfect? Its elegant design will set it apart from others.

You won’t find a ring like this on any other woman.

Diamonds Are Forever

29764B

Why let the twinkle lights do all of the sparkling?

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, after all. If she loves diamonds and all things that glitter, then why not go all out with a design like this extravagant baguette cluster ring?

And better yet, if your love has an outgoing personality, then the diamonds will be the one doing the talking this holiday season. She’ll practically scream “yes,” the moment that she sees this stunning ring!

Modern and Majestic

29761

For the woman who’s all about keeping it fresh and new, something like this modern split triple row ring may be exactly what makes her say “yes!”

It features round and straight baguette diamonds, and its unique design is sure to blow her away. Doesn’t that just make you want to pop the question right now?

Blue Christmas

28098

If she’s what stopped your life from being black and white, then maybe a little color is exactly what her ring needs. Throw in some colored gemstones to the mix! Let the diamond be the main attraction, but surround it with some half-moon blue sapphires to make it extra special.

A ring this beautiful will have her saying “yes” before you even finish speaking!

These beautiful ring designs will make your beautiful woman extremely happy, no matter what type you think is perfect for her. Whether she likes to keep it simple, extravagant, or a little colorful, whichever ring you choose is sure to get a “yes” out of her!

Ring Styles for your Personality

So, your significant other listened to Beyoncé, and wants to put a ring on it?  Congrats!  But, are you now a little overwhelmed by the mission to find just THE perfect engagement ring?  Does it seem like Mission Impossible with so many options out there?  Well, the best strategy is just to relax and let your instincts (and maybe also your budget?) guide you.  Because ultimately, choosing the right engagement ring is pretty much an instinctive thing – you will likely be naturally drawn to designs that reflect your personality and taste, and you will know which ring should adorn your finger the minute you spot it.  It will be one of those Oprah’s “Aha” moments!

Practical

If you’re someone who chooses function over fashion, consider a solitaire set. With its classic simplicity, this setting evokes a subtle beauty—perfect for ladies who prefer taking a quieter approach to being fabulous. And best of all, it can easily match with your other jewelry pieces, making the art of coordination a delightful no-brainer.

Style 28429

Trendy

If you’re a diva who likes to stand out from the crowd, there are plenty of contemporary designs available. Halo settings, where your stone is encased by a heavenly pillow of small diamonds, is hugely popular. You could also explore the different shapes of stones available, from circular to marquise.

If you’re still not sure, you can add some oomph with a mixed metal band, or a pop of color such as rose gold. Who says engagement rings can’t make a statement?

Style 29767

Classy

Maybe you’re the traditional type? In that case, you’ll adore all things antique. Get the classic look with a gorgeous vintage inspired engagement ring, featuring rose and white gold. Elegantly complimenting your freshly polished manicure and designer clutch, you’ll be thinking, “I’m so fancy. You already know!” while sipping on your low-fat latte and reapplying your rouge lipstick.

Style 29707

Glitzy

For the foot-stomping bridezilla, glitz is the way to go! Jam-packed with high-quality diamonds, sapphires and a fat rock, you’ll join the exclusive club of A-list engagement rings.  While inexpensive (and totally brag-worthy), you can treat your finger like royalty, giving her a crown fit for Kate Middleton herself.

You can wear it alone as a stunning statement piece or go wild by matching it with other jewelry. Go bling or go home!

Style 28172

Bohemian

If you’re a bohemian or a romantic soul, you’re best to simply follow your heart. Ignore the trends, the hype and the pressure to be fashionable and choose a ring that genuinely speaks to you. It could be unique, quirky or vintage— walk your own line when it comes to finding the perfect design. This way, whatever you choose will make a natural accompaniment to your carefree style, whether you’re a guitar player, hemp wearer or completely addicted to sriracha.

Style 29794

There are, of course, a few other styles betwixt and between those mentioned here.  But the point is, to think about and settle on a handful of descriptors that feel true to your personality and style before you embark on your engagement ring quest.  And once you’ve armed yourself with this critical criteria, it shouldn’t be too long before you’ll be waving your left hand in front of your friends to the tune of their sincere “Ahhs” and “Wows”!

Dog Swallows Engagement Ring

Don't worry, this story has a happy ending.  An adorable French Bulldog named Tux made a snack out of a Miami woman's engagement ring. Luckily the veterinary hospital was able to safely remove the ring and it is now back on the woman's finger.  Both Tux and the engagement ring came out unscathed.
