Bridal Trends of Spring 2017

We’re finally shoveling our way out of the dreaded winter season, which means wedding season is upon us. Yes! It’s time to dust off your trusty wedding planner, re-open that Pinterest wedding board, and get to work on planning the most spectacular spring wedding of the season. But before you hit the drawing board, let’s take a look at these new bridal trends.

Boho Chic for the Boho Chick

28396B

Think Coachella meets New York Fashion Week – just with less cheesy floral headbands (it’s a love-hate thing). Seriously though, island vibes are taking over the runway this season in every form imaginable. Famous designers like Oscar de la Renta and Elizabeth Fillmore are creating Boho couture, with bell-sleeved chiffon and pleated tulle.

Cascading Bohemian dresses are falling effortlessly on brides everywhere, and makes us wish we were having a destination wedding every week so we could have an excuse to wear these gorgeous things. Want to channel your inner Californian chick? Try this bangle bracelet by Gottlieb & Sons!

Veils – Go Big or Go Home

We went from no veils at all to veils...on veils…on veils. This season we’re looking at BIG, voluminous, hit-people-when-you-walk-by veils. These things are literally massive and they are taking over the runway and the wedding aisle this season as brides swoon over lace embroidered veils to ornate, extremely tulle veils. Pick that special one and you’ll have a lot of trouble parting with it after the wedding-- sorry, nothing can be borrowed here!

Floral and Fab

Blossoming brides are all about the floral accents this season, whether its flower patterned lace or having the dress gather into a beautiful rose. Pastel colors are even taking over the scene, with floral beadwork and sexy embellishments that’ll make your wedding feel more like a garden party.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with bloomy accents either. We’re seeing brides go for floral engagement rings like this one from Gottlieb & Sons.

No need for Cold Shoulders

29246B

Last year was all about the strapless dresses, and to be honest we are a little sick of seeing sweetheart necklines everywhere. Spring is a time for growth and change, and that’s exactly what we’re seeing on bridal gowns this year. Bold shoulders are on trend for 2017, with artistically sculpted sleeve caps and broad shoulder details that kind of resemble shoulder pads.

There’s something powerful about them, and we love how they frame a bride’s face and neck. This dainty diamond pendant by Gottlieb & Sons will add some softness to a heavier neckline.

The Bigger the Bow the Better

Big sleeves aren’t the only thing on trend for this Spring-- oversized bows also hit the runway with a bang! They’re adding a little more glam and a LOT more drama. Large bows are seen tied perfectly around a bride’s waist, or even on the back of her gown. There’s really no wrong way to rock a bow this wedding season, so go ahead and doll up.

With the bows, puff sleeves and florals-- just be careful not to get too carried away by your girlish tastes. You don’t want to feel like a decorated cream puff! The look should be a subtle nod to the Disney princess, while still maintaining an overall modern vibe.

5 Bridal Looks from “Say Yes to the Dress”

You’ve scoured magazines like a detective, attended every bridal show in the city and tried on countless dresses. Yet, when the chips are down, it’s time to seek inspiration from our favorite show, “Say Yes to the Dress.” At that magical moment, the bride-to-be finds the dress of her dreams, we hope that this TV-worthy experience may soon be ours too! Whether you’re a happy crier or a giddy squealer, every bride deserves that special feeling of finding the one—well, technically the second one because you’ve already got your prince.

So let’s get your ideas flowing; time to glance at brides from the show’s most popular episodes.

The Classic Bride

This babe from Season 8 has got her “aha” moment in this stunning strapless gown. Fortunately, a strapless design allows for lots of creativity when choosing a necklace piece for your wedding day. A necklace with larger settings is ideal for a lower neckline.

This rose-gold pendant with diamond clusters by Gottlieb & Sons will send your bridesmaids swooning over your fine taste. Seriously though, who needs a pre-wedding spray tan when you’ll already be glowing? Let the jewelry do the talking on your big day!

Boho Romance

For the free-spirited boho bride, a simple yet precious design is what you’re after. As a beautiful compliment to a dress with lace details, a romantic bracelet will complete your Coachella-inspired look—minus the EDM music (hopefully).

This delicate diamond bracelet will not only stun your guests on your wedding day but can be worn again over cocktails or dinner with friends. It’s a classy conversation starter to share stories from your happy day.

Classic Elegance

In Season 5, this lovely bride-to-be tried on a breathtaking dress with intricate detailing along a sweetheart neckline. How divine!

When wearing a dress with a low neck like this one, make sure you play it up with some sparkle. Prong set diamond earrings or a touch of color with classic emerald oval earrings add subtle elegance without being gaudy or overshadowing the dress.

With these masterpieces around your ears, you’ll feel so bridalicious, you’ll want to take at least 100 pre-wedding kissy selfies. And who could blame you?

Love From Both Sides

If Pippa Middleton’s bridesmaid dress taught us anything it’s that all eyes are on both the front of the dress and the rear especially if you have added detailing at the back or a long train as many SYTTD brides favor.

A piece with all over sparkle like this lavish 5 row diamond cuff will blind all eyes as you walk down the aisle—in a good way!

Just Say Yes

Every bride wants the ring to be just as impressive as her dress. The diamond encrusted ring worn by SYTTD bride Persia Zarrabi looked killer with her magnificent cinched cut-out waist dress.

This shared prong straight baguette cluster ring with a double halo by Gottieb & Sons will make you the envy of every bridesmaid. It basically screams to the whole world ‘I’m engaged’, letting you relish in all your glory!

Never settle for anything sub-par for your big day. As “Say Yes to the Dress” teaches us, you’re allowed to be picky (and maybe even a little bratty) for your epic day. So get out there and make some decisions, girl! Good luck.
